Featured listings

Allow users to pay for prominent placement and highlighting of their listings

Overview

Featured listings allow users to pay for enhanced visibility. Featured listings receive priority placement in search results and category views, along with visual highlighting to stand out from regular listings.

What users get

When a listing is featured:

  • Priority placement - Appears at the top of listings
  • Visual highlighting - Featured badge and distinct styling
  • Increased visibility - More prominent in search results

How it works

  1. User authenticates via an inline login or create account form
  2. User fills out the listing submission form
  3. User is shown the price and option to feature their listing
  4. If they choose to feature, they complete payment via Stripe or PayPal and featured status applies instantly
  5. If they don't, the listing submits as usual (free)
  6. Admin receives a notification of the new submission
  7. Listing remains unpublished until you/the admin publishes it via the status indicator
  8. User can view their payments and subscriptions from the dropdown menu in the top right

Creating a featured listing product

  1. Go to Settings > Monetization > Products
  2. Click Add Product
  3. Select Pay to feature as the product type
  4. Enter a name (e.g., "Feature your listing")
  5. Choose one-time or subscription pricing
  6. Set the price
  7. Click Save and sync the product

Pricing options

The usual pricing options apply: one-time payment or subscription-based (3 or 12 months). When a subscription expires, the featured status is removed but the listing remains active.

Subscription lifecycle

For subscription-based featured listings:

Active subscription

  • Listing displays with featured status
  • Automatic renewal at end of billing period

Subscription cancelled or expired

  • Featured status is removed
  • Listing remains active (not set to inactive)
  • Listing continues to appear, just without featured highlighting

This differs from paid listings, where the listing itself is deactivated when the subscription ends.
